thought i thaw a putty cat

when i hit the 1000 mark on my twitter account i actually stopped to reflect on my love affair with it. to think i was soooo nonplussed when i started my account, only doing it to learn how to use it so i could manage my job's account. omg i hated it!

so what's kept me tweeting? instant, concise, chronological information, the funny shit people can manage to say in 140 characters or less, how easy and simple it is to share anything as soon as it happens, how easy it is to communicate with friends and organizations, and of course how it invites absurdity.

i'm not as cautious as i am with my twitter account. (i probably would be if i used it for networking/advancing my career) i don't care who follows me (as long as it isn't a fake account) or who retweets me. there's very little discretion when it comes to what i'll say. in contrast to facebook where yeah, you can certainly make that inappropriate status update but be prepared for the consequences. for whatever reason, facebook makes me wary of strangers. i don't accept requests from even friends of friends. if i've never physically met you, ignore. but twitter seems to encourage random interaction between anyone, and well, it's fun!

i just really like having to go to one place where all of this can happen and it's another way to collect information i have some interest in, whereas the only way i can enjoy fb nowadays is to use my lists which i cannot access using fb for blackberry. and even then people post whatever the hell they want and there's no way of sorting through posted links and video that are of interest to you.

i like twitter as much as i like google reader. again, it's being able to collect sources of information, entertainment, and media that i want to keep up with, and being able to do it fairly easily.

but google reader isn't appropriate for mobile use at all, so it's kinda nice to use twitter to read an article about design, or the local news instead of playing brick breaker at the doctor's office.

now i just have to get over the bad taste tumblr is still leaving me in my mouth. not really into the random visual stimuli that i've only come across.

*it must be noted that @death2thethrone isn't a douchefag at all. he produces some killer remixes. :)
