grammy nominations were annouced last week i think. is your favorite band nominated? :D
i stopped paying attention to the grammys because i stopped caring about the music and bands that only seemed to get nominated. but this year's nominees include bands i actually like, if not love!
the tings tings and mgmt are up for best new artist, and mgmt are also nominated for best pop performance by duo/group. the pet shop boys and crystal method for best dance/electronic album, and depeche mode and phoenix for best alternative music album. here is my applause and congratulations neither of the bands will hear. three huzzah's!
i am so surprised that dance/electronic album category actually included electronic artists. for many years what i (and i suspect a lot of people) would call pop artists got nominated for that category which always infuriated me. pop has its own category, so why should pop artists be in the dance/electronic category, especially when there are many talented edm artists that could get a grammy nom.
i'm torn between who should get the best alternative music album grammy. sorry, but definitely not the yeah yeah yeah's for "It's Blitz." i just didn't like it, except for maybe five tracks. either depeche mode or phoenix should win. i think i'm leaning towards phoenix. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is such a solid album and the track "Love Like a Sunset" is one of the best rock instrumentals i've ever heard.
