oh yes <3
This series is seriously one of the only shounen I can think of where the author doesn’t even bother with 100+ chapters of the main characters slowly powering up to eventual badass levels (or, no badass level-ups at all after 100+ chapters).
SOUL AND MAKA POWER UP IN ONE CHAPTER. BEHIND OUR BACKS. LOL FOREVER.
Again though, Soul was already at near Death Scythe level in the first chapter, so this doesn’t feel too weird, it’s in an interesting writing method really. Both the anime and the manga focus very heavily on the main plot, as opposed to “monster of the week” chapters. We don’t get countless one-shot adventures, in other words. I honestly would have liked a few more of those, just so we could see more interaction between the characters, but I’m still pleased with this.

» Patti’s been training in her hand-to-hand combat skills, presumably to save Kid.
» Oh, I get it. This chapter is mainly an indicator that the kids are all skilled enough now to take on new opponents. Bummer that Kid and Crona haven’t been saved yet, but ok. I’ll buy that we needed a power-up chapter.
» Lol, Liz. So proud of her little sister.
» Whoa. Ox got hot too. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE??!
» HAHAHA at all the girls fangirling Black*Star. LOL WHUT.
» That is until he begs Kim to HEAL HIS POOR PEENER :(((.
» Black*Star is almost as tall as Tsubaki now? What? When did this happen?
» Aww, everyone’s worried about Kid, though, apparently they think he can pull through and wait for them. I think he’s just been hanging out in Noah’s book doing nothing in particular, so I guess they’re right. Otherwise I think he’d be a wreck without Liz and Patti, haha.
» Stein and Marie are back <3.
» Lol, Spirit makes a honeymoon crack and Stein just…laughs like a doofus about it.
» Marie, on the other hand, calls him a perv :P.
» Whoa! Giriko, Noah, Justin and…New Bad Guy. UH OH.
» Maka’s still in trouble :(. I sense Soul having a conniption in the coming chapters over this “kiiiilll Maka” kick the baddies are on.
» Seeing as how Soul will (hopefully) be a Death Scythe by the next chapter though, their chances of beating this new bad guy team up are much better.
» OH HAI VERY PISSED OFF KID. WE ALL MISS YOU.
» Holy crap Soul totally TOWERS over Maka all of a sudden. He used to be SHORTER THAN SHE WAS.

» Oh, neat. Arachne’s soul is THE FINAL ONE. Hurhur.
» Soul’s drool mark is back on the final page, haha. Ohkubo got rid of that ages ago. I missed it! The rest of the page is Soul OMNOMNOMing xDD. I always figured Ohkubo created Soul purely so he could draw him in all these caricature-ish, monster teeth stances. Rawr, blaargh, I eat your soooouuuul.
