you know the drill

Oookkay. Caught up with the SE manga. The art gets much, much better. I am very pleased, but super worried as to where the anime’s going. The manga seems no where near ending, but the anime only has about 15-16 episodes to go. Nooo. I don’t want an anime-only ending or an opened-ended ending *whines*. I guess I would most prefer Bones just doing another season or something, but it’s going to be years before the manga concludes itself I’m sure.

Bones is going to be airing a new FMA series soon though, so I’m not expecting another season in all honestly. (Don't get me started on THAT. I'll babble about it at another time.)

Arrgh. I’m so conflicted. I have such a bad feeling that characters are going to be killed off in the anime for the sake of an artsy ending or some crap like that. The second opening is making me bite my nails man. Booo! Don’t do it!

I’m pumped for the next manga chapter though (56). Where the heck did Crona go? Not cool people. Not cool. I don’t believe Medusa’s sudden motherly instinct crap either.

Soul back-story is definitely welcome as well as his hot older brother. I also want to see more of Soul playing the piano. All those subconscious/black blood scenes are so artsy and pretty - a nice new twist on an old cliché of characters duking it out with their evil side’s. I guess we kind of know now why he doesn’t play the piano anymore? Sort of? I’m assuming from dialogue in chapter 55 that he thought he wasn’t good enough, because there’s this shounen clause that all older male siblings have to be more betterer at everything and anything.

In comes Maka who offers to help make him into something “cool”. I absolutely love how Bones has dealt with all the flashback scenes between the two of them - constantly hinting at the fact that they saw something special in each other and knew they could become stronger because of their meeting. It’s so hard not to otp them like burning. (It also helps that they like to hold each others hands ad freaking nauseam, lul. Not so subtle guys! I know he’s your weapon and you have to hold him, but seriously.) Oh. Ohhhh. Their dancing/battle discussion scene also broke my cute meter and my head exploded. No woorrdds <333.

On a general note I love the huge emphasis on the relationships between meisters and their weapons. It's just nice to watch because it has to be about mutual trust and friendship or, d’oh!, it doesn’t work out. So all the teams have this great dynamic because two people who are exactly the same can’t work together. It’s all about teams that compliment each other’s personalities. So Soul Eater is full of all these odd couples who are just super entertaining to watch develop and interact.

Holy hell, chapter 53 gave me a heart attack. I COULD NOT HANDLE ALL THE BLOOD. AND THEN I LAUGHED LIKE A JERK as of course Kid’s reaction was “oh crap I’m all uneven!” lololol. This series loves being childish one moment, then excessively gory the next. It’s amazing.

I’m surprisingly rarely bored. Looks like I’m going to be reading this series for a while. It’s gonna be rad.

edit: I can't stop watching the PIANO BATTLE in episode 36. I. Fuck. That was badass. Rock on Soul. It sounds like a disorganized mess the first time around, but on a couple of re-watches it's effing amazing. Like a musical description of a fight scene, asdfjhlf. (edit again: Oooh. Plus I forgot the score had been used in previous scenes, like the Crona/Maka fight :F. So yeah, totally fitting. Shut up fandom, it's awesome.)

I'd put up a clip of the entire scene if wasn't going to take up so much space in photobucket (it would :/). Youtube!:
