"I could kiss you here, forever." Claire murmured as she leaned forward, pressing her mouth softly to Hiro's once more. Closing her eyes, she felt her throat close a little as she laid a hand against his cheek. When they pulled apart, he was a little worried to see a tear disappearing into her blond curls as she laid on her side facing him. They were curled up in bed with each other, the morning sun starting to peek through the curtains but the couple hadn't gone to sleep yet. The night had started out hot and needy, then slowed to something lazy and equally as satisfying as they went from sex to making love. For some reason now, she was crying.
"What's wrong?" He murmured, already knowing. She had said forever and he knew that it bothered her, knowing they really didn't have forever. They would have for as long as he was alive and then she would go on alone. There was plenty of times he wished he could change it. Instead of answering, she just shook her head because she didn't trust herself to speak, she leaned in and kissed him again.
When she fell asleep finally, he slipped from the bed and got dressed. For a moment he watched her before he closed his eyes, disappearing.
-----
Sometime in the future
Claire had changed her hair back to blond, after being brunette and then a redhead. Her hair was down to her shoulders now, the straight bob brushing against her cheeks, stirred by the gentle breeze that was floating in through her window. She was in Texas again, it had felt right and safe to finally go back home. She didn't try to get the Bennet home, that would be too painful and so she chose a small two bedroom house in Odessa, not that far from where she had grown up.
She was deep in her thoughts when she felt the presence behind her, her whole body stiffening as she whirled about and nearly fainted. Her mouth dropped open as she felt like she had been punched hard in the stomach, feeling dizzy as she looked at the man in front of her. Taking a half step forward, she swallowed thickly, "Hiro?" Her voice broke a little as she watched him give her a hesitant smile because he didn't know how far ahead he had gone.
When he moved forward, she almost shrank back because she didn't want to believe it was him but she didn't have far to go. As his hand brushed her cheek, his eyes moving over her features and her hair, she knew it was him. His scent was familiar to her still, even after over a hundred years without him. Her throat closed more as she caught his face between her hands and kissed him, almost desperately. His breath caught as he kissed her back then, echoing the need that was still new to him and long time gone for her. But it blazed inside of her soul like a flame renewed as she turned with him, both of them moving to the bed.
It hurt, a different kind of pain than physical because she didn't feel that but it was still pain deep within her soul and her heart. She could feel the tears stinging her eyes as he tugged at her clothes, peeling them from her frame as his hands sought her skin and her curves. It almost surprised her as her hands sought much the same, peeling off his shirt and then going for his pants. His skin felt the same and her hands seemed to know the right path as though she still had his body memorized. She had feared for so long that she had forgotten what it was like to be with the first man she had ever loved, and still did.
She hadn't wanted it to be over quickly, so she delayed it as much as she could and she was pleased when he seemed to be on the same wavelength. As his kisses went lower, traveling over her breasts, down her navel and then lower to the spot between her legs, she nearly died of pleasure. Her breath was fast and shallow, catching on gasps as his tongue teased the bundle of nerves and his fingers worked her to a frenzy. Then she returned the favor, using her mouth, her tongue and her teeth on him till nearly exploded in her mouth.
There were heated kisses all over, greedy fingers that caressed, pressed and gripped tightly as they finally became one. Her legs wrapped tightly around his hips as he pinned her wrists to the bed, her hips rocking hard and fast as she met his thrusts till they reached their mutual peak. Then he collapsed on top of her and she held him close. She wanted to ask when he was from but she didn't, she didn't need to know. He lifted his head, kissing her softly before murmuring, "I could kiss you here, forever." Hearing the phrase made her pull back a little as she looked at him, then she started to cry.
She was still crying softly when he left her alone in the bed and returned to their time. No, he hadn't been able to give her forever but he had given her something just as good.
