We're always brought here while in the middle of doing something. I admit, it confused me a little, at first. I'd thought the city I'd been in had been hit with some sort of attack.

That's correct. This place is a mesh of worlds, actually. There are hundreds of different worlds, if not more, combined into one place.

It does seem to be illogical, but...

Well, to make a long story short, a group of scientists attempted an experiment, and it failed. The result was a tear in space and time, and it created this place. People from different worlds come and go all the time.

I've been here nearly a year and a half, but I know there are a couple of people here that are coming close to being here for three years. It's not common to stay this long, though.
