I have returned from the investigation. We've yet to find the Captain's body, but there is no proof one way or another if he is dead or alive. The search and rescue mission will continue until we have results.

Until the Grand Admiral returns, I will be acting Captain of this ship. All orders will go through me first.

With all due respect, Grumman's decision was entirely out of my control.

What Grumman's decision was hardly matters. What made this a foolish failure on your part is that you let him walk all over your command.

Despite his position on the ship, he was, technically, ranked higher than me. Everything he did was supported by regulation.

Unless, of course, you think that I should have wasted valuable time on a futile power struggle instead of actual work.

It is hardly a futile power struggle when he is trying to wrest control from my hands. The General used his rank to blatantly ignore the proper chain of command and you let him.

It's futile in the sense that it wouldn't have worked, no matter how I clung to my position. Again, as loathsome as his actions were, he was still within his rights. Furthermore, a power struggle would have only created more chaos, something we did not need at the time.
