I have not spoken to him yet; Commander Zechs Marquise informed me of the situation. I had hoped you would know more.

Very well, then.

The pirate vessel "4423" had crashed in the Badlands, and we went to take advantage of the situation. Unfortunately, some crew members had a tragic sense of misplaced loyalty. The only proven act of sabotage related to this, however, was a failed attempt to rig the helm. The man responsible is currently in the brig.

Keep in mind that there's a difference between "proven" and "suspected." Someone planted a series of amateur explosives around the ship. As flimsy as they were, though, they hit enough delicate areas to necessitate a retreat. Several crew members were injured, including the captain; his life is not in danger, but he was the unfortunate victim of shrapnel from the engine room.

Has there been any investigation done into this foolish bombing? Were there any causalities?

We've had injuries, from the minor to the major, but no deaths. Most of the crew is stable now.

[sighs] As for the investigation... there's still several things we're unsure of. At first I thought it was connected to tensions on the ship, but we weren't the only vessel that was hit.
