Movie reaction!post -- and no, it's not for The Avengers (yet)
I just watched The Matrix for the first time.

WHERE HAS THIS MOVIE BEEN ALL MY LIFE???

THIS MOVIE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR THIRTEEN YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE SEEN IT
I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN DENIED THIRTEEN PRECIOUS YEARS WITH MY SOULMATE OR SMTH
I actually went into watching it a little warily, just because I've always heard jokes about how The Matrix is where Hollywood bullet-time and slow-mo all but originated, and I've seen those things overused SO, SO MUCH in recent years (and outright abused by a certain film series I won't bother mentioning 'B|), so I was a little afraid that I'd be all slow-mo'd out and end up hating the movie for that reason.
WRONG
IT WAS JUST SO COOL
HALF AN HOUR IN, MY MIND WAS BLOWN BY THE PLOT
AND I WAS JUST LIKE "....................DUDE. I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING."
AND THEN THERE WERE FIGHT SCENES
BEAUTIFUL FIGHT SCENES THAT ONLY HAD LIKE THREE SECONDS OF SLOW-MO TOTAL -- AND THEN LATER ON THERE WAS MORE SLOW-MO, BUT IT WAS DONE WELL AND IN PIECES RATHER THAN HYOOJ, TWO-MINUTE CHUNKS OF IT AT A TIME (WHICH QUICKLY GETS BORING AND LAME, AS MOST PEOPLE KNOW)
AND OMG THANK GOODNESS: SOMEONE FINALLY HAD THE SENSE TO SAY "SCREW RELOADING" AND JUST THREW AWAY HIS GUNS WHEN THEY WERE EMPTY AND DREW NEW ONES
AND SLDKJF;LASJFAIEFSDFNSA;LDJF;LSDNF THAT ONE PART
WHEN NEO KICKED THAT ONE GUARD IN THE HEAD
THE WAY HE LANDED AFTERWARDS AND JUST STOOD THERE FOR LIKE A SECOND AND A HALF OMG IT WAS SO AMAZING IDEK I WAS LIKE
STUNNED
MAYBE EVEN A LITTLE BREATHLESS, I'LL ADMIT
IT WAS JUST SUCH A GOOD FREAKIN' SHOT AND AN AWESOME CONCLUSION TO A WELL-DONE FIGHT SCENE
AND AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THE FIGHT BETWEEN NEO AND SMITH IN THE TRAIN STATION SKLDJFKLSDFSFLKAJISFJN YES YES YES YES I LOVED IT SO MUCH
SO FAST-PACED AND AWESOME AND FKLSJDKFLSDFS <3333333
and lmao that was kind of the greatest moment ever:
Neo: /throws Smith in front of train!
Smith: /hit by train!
Me: "WOO! Neo wins!" \o/
Aaaand then the train stops and Smith gets out because OH YEAH WHOOPS FORGOT HE DOESN'T DIE LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE lololol.
And fffff my dad was playing MW3 in the next room while I was watching this, and he'd occasionally drop in to watch a scene -- and right as this fight starts, he calls in:
Dad: "Are they fighting?"
Me: *distracted* "What? Who?"
Dad: "Mr. Anderson and Mr. Smith."
Me: "Oh. Yeah."
Dad: "Pause it for a sec!"

AND HUGO WEAVING WAS SO AMAZING, AS ALWAYS <333333 AND I STILL DON'T CARE WTF PEOPLE SAY ABOUT KEANU REEVES -- HE'S BEEN A GOOD ACTOR IN EVERYTHING I'VE SEEN HIM IN AND HE WAS A GOOD ACTOR IN HERE AND I TOTALLY THINK HE'S MORE TALENTED THAN MOST OF THE ACTORS/ACTRESSES WHO ARE "AWARDED" OSCARS AND SHOVED DOWN MY THROAT BY HOLLYWOOD SO STFU. THE FACT THAT HE'S ALSO VERY NICE TO LOOK AT IS JUST A BONUS FOR ME K ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
...But yeah, capslocking aside, I thought it was surprisingly good. The plot was totally cool and creepy, and as a lover of 90s movies, I chuckled at but still loved the bits of 90s-esque cheesiness here and there in the dialogue and special effects and such. It was the kind of movie that CONSTANTLY had me on the edge of my seat going "GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!!" which is always a good sign, and I love that whole concept of a prophecy only being a prophecy because you heard the prophecy in the first place -- time travel/foretelling the future/etc. is just a nice mindscrew to any plot, idk. I WILL ALWAYS THINK OF THAT EPISODE OF Gargoyles, when Goliath threatened to leave Xanatos stranded in the past, and Xanatos' smug response was just, "But you won't -- because you didn't. Time's funny that way. |D"
OVERALL I LOVED IT AND I MOURN THE FACT THAT IT TOOK ME THIS LONG TO SEE IT. 8'''( -600 POINTS, SELF. Afterwards, my dad was asking me how I liked it and I was like, "Why didn't you tell me about this movie sooner?! WHY did you not think 'OH, there's a totally awesome action movie with a mind-blowing plot out there' and immediately think to tell me??" To which his response was, "Well, I'm pretty sure I mentioned it before! It's just been... several years, ahaha..."
