AW YEAH saw Captain America the other day, so you know what that means.

RANTY REVIEW TIEM

First off, let me say that

I WAS DENIED MY SPIDEY REBOOT PREVIEW. B|

When the previews ended and Spidey wasn't one of them, I couldn't help a frustrated "JACKASSES!" -- apparently said loudly enough that both of my sisters could hear me. lol whoops. |D

Also, that Three Musketeers movie was looking pretty dang sweet -- uuuuntil "LOL GUESS WHO IS DA AMAZINGLY SEXY AND AWESOME ASSASSIN OF TOTAL SEXY AWESOMENESS THAT NO ONE CAN CONTEND WITH?!1!!11? OH HAI HERE'S A HINT SHE IS DODGING LASERS BALL THINGIES IN A HALLWAY!!111one! AND IN A DRESS!!!!"

Yeaaaaah. Milla "I'M NOT ON THE MENU" Jovovich. Ugh. Which is only natural, since Day pointed out afterwards that she spotted Anderson's name in the credits.

NEVER MIND, I WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THAT MOVIE NOW. And for the record, I do not hate her for her atrocious Mary-Sue of a portrayal in the RE films. It's not entirely her fault that her character sucks. I dislike her because

A) She's an actress who can't act.
B) She's a model who does NOT look anything like a model.
C) She's a songwriter, singer, and something else that she just slapped on her resume because celebrities can be any freaking thing they want.
D) She acts like she knows something about canon!Resident Evil just because she plays a Mary-Sue in the films, which is nearly as irritating as actors who act like they know things about science just because they play a scientist COUGHPlanetoftheApesCOUGH.
E) Her RL dislike of Jill is positively ridiculous, even if it's hilarious. I'll be dang surprised if she's not half as jealous/bitter as she comes off about losing to Jill in popularity in Apocalypse. Her comments in her (grammar- and spelling-deficient) Twitter are like a high school cheerleader miffed by the fact that all the guys like the new girl. ...If the new girl had been at the school years before she came along, was kicking ass long before said cheerleader even thought about earning her metaphorical pom-poms, and beat out the cheerleader in the sexiness factor hands-down in a ratio of at least 100:1.

AAAAANYWAY. Yes. Captain America. I saw it in regular, good ol' 2D, because I just don't buy the whole 3D movie thing at this point in time.

Ahahaaaaaa the action scenes. ♥♥♥♥♥ Love love love. The best parts were when Cap ran into that one Hydra base where he let himself be captured, and then when he and the Skull were duking it out in Wesker's stealth bomber the end.

There was just something so, so "YES!!!"-inducing the first time you see him throw his mighty shield -- one of those "OMG THEY DID IT RIGHT! 8DDDD /BOUNCEBOUNCEBOUNCE" moments.

I liked how they had the traditional costume of his -- even if it was as a gag, pretty much -- but then put an awesome spin on it for his actual battle outfit. The shields were AWESOME, and I was glad they showed both versions. :'D

And HOWARD STARK LKSDJLFSDFS <3333 XD When he first showed up, I figured he was just one of those "OH LOOK LOL" cameos who'd be in there once and then not show again, but NOPE, he kept coming back and being useful. Awesome. And speaking of cameos, bwahahaha Stan Lee. You're just about the most adorable old man ever. X'D

I was thinking they'd kill Bucky off at the very end -- a la most of the Cap renditions I've seen in various media -- so it actually totally caught me off guard when they offed him when they did. And it was sad -- especially when Cap made that simple, subtle comment of "I can't get drunk." 8[ /HUGS FOR THE MAN FOREVER

And let it be known that I did not cry at the end. Although I came kinda close to tearing up. I know, I surprised myself. Also liked how they went ahead and included Cap in modern time to go ahead and set it up for ~THE AVENGERS~ (and AW YEAH all the Norse mythology tie-ins). And let me say that I just always love the scenes where he wakes up, because he always inevitably owns the crap out of whoever's standing over him, whether it be S.H.I.E.L.D. agents or the other Avengers themselves. BD IT NEVER FAILS TO BE AMAZING AND HILARIOUS AND AWESOME, and the movie totally did it right.

OVERALL, while I don't know Cap's comic-canon roots as well as I know some other Marvel characters', I really liked it. Hugo Weaving was AMAZING and I loved the Red Skull's get-up, the fight scenes were delightful, and I just loved, loved, loved how the film was so blatantly patriotic, especially with how idiotic American society and politics are today; you can't be TOO supportive of your country without being labeled ignorant, racist, a warhawk, or a redneck -- or all of the above -- by much of the media. Regardless, this was all about a man who loves America so much that serving it is all he can think about, and he never thinks twice about risking his life and facing impossible odds to protect it.

"Heroes are made in America." Eff yeah.

ALSO, I am working on those meme requests; I've just been sidetracked with reading The Dresden Files, and when I'm not doing that, I've taken up playing Phoenix Wright and OH MY GOD I have wanted to punch few characters in the face as vehemently as I wanted to punch Edgeworth YOU CONDESCENDING LITTLE SNAKE. >| AUGH. It does not help that I tend to take everything in life personally.

Anyway, yes, I'm working on the requests, but I've also set myself back with the crippling fact that my definition of "snippet" can apparently mean 1200+ words. B|;;; I don't even.

marvel, punch everything, character love, movie review, do not want, rant, wtf, video games, character haaate
