So, I finally got around to watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 -- yes, part 1, because after the seventh book I just Did Not Care Anymore, and I actually haven't seen the fifth movie in 100% full yet, or the sixth one at all.
Anyway--
o.m.g. The HHr scenes. ;_____; <333333 THE DANCE SCENE WAS THE MOST ADORABLY CUTE AND SWEET THING I HAVE EVER SEEN they are so, so beautiful together wryyyyyyyy.
Still my #1 OTP forever. :| For srs.
That aside... the movie was about 100x more tolerable than the book, since it A) shuffled those ridiculous plot holes and plot devices under the rug, B) made Ron WAY less emo and thus MUCH more tolerable, and C) cut way back on the hours and hours of pointless emo-ing and page-filling angst in general. But. Yeaaaaah, wtf was that. "ZIP UP MY DRESS PLZ?" moment. Ugh. B| DELEEEEEETE.
And I am laughing forever at the largely negative reaction that ~ULTIMATE~ MvC3 received from the crowd at Comic-Con during the Capcom panel. >D That was truth and justice at its beautiful finest. GET USED TO THE SILENCE, CAPCOM -- THAT'S ALL YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR IN THE HOLE YOU'RE DIGGING YOURSELF.
Fighting games. Fiiiiighting gaaaaames. We all know I'm a fight whore, and that doesn't end at writing: one reason I hate turn-based RPGs for the most part is that I can't actually attack the enemy myself (lol "myself"... you know what I mean); I like that control, the feel of using hand-eye coordination to manipulate different areas of a character's body and carry out different moves depending on what you feel like and just beating the crap out of an opponent and getting the crap beat out of you in turn is just... exhilarating. At the risk of sounding like a psycho.
I'm particular when it comes to my fighting style, though; I hate hate HATE long, health-eating, and potentially inescapable combos -- not because they're difficult to pull off, but because they just... serve no purpose. What's the use in memorizing a pattern? Where's the fun in raising the chance that you'll pull off a win without giving the opponent the chance to hit you back? What fun is there in the lack of a challenge, and in turning what should be the thrill of expectation in battle into something as simple and retarded as the same pattern of button pushes over and over? Aside from hating to get hit by them, I refuse to use them. If I do start to pull off a long combo, I'll seriously break it partway through to give my opponent a chance to recover. :| Again, at the risk of sounding like a psycho or Kenpachi Zaraki, totes my hero forever, I don't want the battle to end too soon. You're supposed to be in the battle FOR the battle. Fight for fighting's sake. Not just a win. 'B|
...Yeah. Sidetracked there. Fighting games -- YES, games. That's what I mean. Games.
Fighting games have so much freakin' replay value, which IMO ups their worth in and of itself. Plus fighting games allow you to use characters that you don't get to anywhere else, or might see in a different setting -- e.g., the RE characters in MvC3. It wasn't until we put the game in for the first time that it seriously hit me: "HOLY CRAP. We are pitting Wesker and Chris freakin' Redfield against each other in a FIGHTING GAME. HOW SICK IS THAT?!" And then there's Survival Mode -- my favorite EVERRRR -- in which you literally just keep fighting and fighting until you can't fight anymore and WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT.
