The trip concludes. I'm back in the states.. I'm back home.. with experiences to be not forgotten and things learned about the homeland of my parents.
My Grandma as of yesterday upon leaving was still alive. I'm rather frustrated with their healthcare system and got very upset the day before due to the current plan in "withdrawing care". I pray that I won't be subject to a system such as the one the Philippines has at this point and time. It seems like it's corrupted with no checks-and-balances system in place for the doctors. And the nurses look like they don't follow up. Greed looks to be a main drive of this system... much like its politics.
My kittens are going to be fine from what it looks like. One of the maids of the house of my aunt is able to feed them.
It was a somewhat surreal experience when I reflect on this journey. I've seen the roots of my mom and her culture where her principles are derived from and come to grasping parts of the society of Davao. I will go back again to have fun, take in the sights, and visit more of my family there. Specifically upon learning some basic Tagalog grammar and expand my vocab here stateside.
Random Notables:
- I like videoke. It's fun.
- A number of Filipinos thought I looked like a current Filipino celebrity star,
Mickey, from Pinoy Big Brother.
It was rather annoying... until I saw him on TV and agreed.
And life moves on. Work Thursday night.
