i remember this one thursday night in California during the holidays kate kagan was over watching the OC at my house. It was one of the holiday episodes from the first season. And it was the one where Oliver has a New Years Eve party, and Marissa is there, you know, thinking about Ryan and what not because Ryan can't be with her for reasons i cant quite remember, Anyways, the clock starts to countdown ten seconds. 10, 9, the song Dice starts by Finley Quaye and the show goes in slow motion. Ryan tries his hardest to get to Marrissa and kiss her before the ball drops. 8, 7, he gets into the hotel you know, looks for where he can find her 6, 5, 4, the show is still in slow motion, and Ryan frantically races to the penthouse to find Marissa, 3, he's running 2, hes running 1, hes running while flinging open the door and locks eyes with Marissa, her eyes widen and his do too, and they kiss. There is noise in the backround from the party, but from what you can see the only two people on the entire earth moving is them. There is confetti falling everywhere, there are people in the backround cheering, but all you can focus on is them and this beautiful kiss. I just remember Kate and I sitting in my bedroom on my mattress watching this. I felt so magical for that moment in time. I dont know why, but the music and the colors, I felt happy. Tonight I decided to play Finely Quaye and it reminded me way to much of that night and just the feelings it made me felt to watch that. Ive had it on repeat for quite some time, and just felt like writing about it.
