note to self: NEVER AGAIN SHOULD I LEAVE THE COMPUTER ON THE BED WHILE HAVING SEX.
repeat: Computer + Bed + Non-Electronic-Sex = BAD

So the IT guys say it's at least $100 to figure out what the problem is. And they suspect that replacing the motherboard/videocard and/or monitor will cost upwards of $800. There's a slim chance it's just damaged wires/connections and they can fix it cheaply.

Funny how that price is more than the current cost of my laptop. Albeit I paid a lot more for it five years ago. I was really really hoping for it to last at least 3 more years.

Baahh...

Anyway:
Best-case-scenario: I can fix it for under $200.
Wost-case-scenario: I'm getting a new laptop and using the old to run a media station.

Now i'm going to ramble about new laptop options...

Seeing as my 5yo laptop had 40GB-5400rpm HDD, Pentium M 1.6GHz, 32MB DDR-SDRAM ATI Radeon 7500 video card; I upgraded RAM to 2GB....I'd like some improvements....

1. I want to be able to play this one. Although, if I want this new laptop to last me 5 years or more, I might as well invest a little more. And Lenovo thinkpads kept most of the IBM engineers that were so good at making durable computers... I think I will consider the lenovo's some more...
