Canon Abilities:
As the Superior of Organization XIII, Xemnas is the most powerful Nobody. Not only does he have control over the “lesser Nobodies” (the ones that have not retained a human form, such as Dusks), he can change the other members into Dusks if he so desires. But that is most certainly not all.
Each member of the Organization has an attribute to their power, an element if you will. Xemnas’ attribute is Nothingness. As an element it’s rather cryptic, which I suppose it’s suitable enough considering who we’re talking about, but most of his attacks seem…”energy”-based so speak and non-elemental. His main weapons are called Ethereal Blades (formerly called Aerial Blades, but the KH staff must have decided that Ethereal sounded cooler), which are…really similar to the lightsabers from Star Wars. They’re red blades of energy, but rather than having a handle or hilt, they extend straight out of his palm. Besides using them as melee weapons, he can also use them as projectiles. Other attacks include creating energy barriers as a means for defence (which also knocks the enemy back and causes some slight damage) and creating some sort of attack that slowly drains his opponent’s life (though how it looks is different each time you fight him, Square isn’t very consistent apparently). In the mission mode of Days, while he uses his limit break - All-Vanity - he surrounds himself with a damaging force field. And when the Limit Breaks get an upgrade, there’s a nice addition of energy beams. Yeah.
Like many other characters of Kingdom Hearts, he can also use Corridors of Darkness, which are portals he can use to travel wherever he likes, including other worlds. And he can float if he desires, which he does when you decide him to play him on mission mode in Days.
Xemnas’s fighting style in general appears to be rather agile and quick if the boss fights with Sora are anything to go by, switching between circular, swift and acrobatic combos when he uses his Ethereal Blades and creating distance in order to do one of the other attacks mentioned. He also seems to like teleporting using the Corridors around the battlefield, annoyingly enough. Also, if you choose to play as him in Days, he can also use spells such as Fire and Cure, though whether this is canon or just for the sake of the mission mode isn’t clear.
He becomes even more powerful when he uses the power of Kingdom Hearts, but for the sake of not being unnecessarily tl;dr, I won’t elaborate too much on it since it’s relevance is questionable. I’ll only say that he changes form, where adorns an armor and uses the weapons of his fallen comrades of the Organization, along with a nice power upgrade. After this he has another form, similar to that of his original with the only physical change being the coat (which is white with black designs similar to the Organization symbol). In this form he can do everything he could previously do before getting his armor, only his power has increased dramatically. Additionally, he can teleport without the Corridors, summon torrents of white and black thorns and create body-doubles. Finally, as a desperation move he can create one final attack that surrounds his enemy in darkness and fire an insanely large amount of Ethereal Blades at them.
Limitations @ Damned
Of course, Xemnas shall be greatly weakened within the setting of Landels. He won’t be able to use the Corridors of Darkness, neither will he be able to summon any lesser Nobodies or change anyone into one. Also, any sort of power he would receive after changing to a next form are, of course, off limits for him. Additionally he won’t be able to float; he will have to walk like any normal person. He also won’t be able to access his limit break or any variation of his “life-drain” attack. No spells either.
I’d like for him to be able to still use the energy-based barrier, but it will be weakened. It should be similar to running into a wall, and the only sort of direct damage it would cause would be the recoil. Xemnas won’t be able to retain the barrier for more than a second or two, and he’ll only be able to use it four times a night. In addition, there will be a small delay if Xemnas chooses to summon it. Using it will result in a large headache and a nosebleed, which will become worse every time he uses it.
I’d also like for him to keep his Ethereal Blades to some extend, but he’ll only be able to use them when he’s in a pinch (like when he’s about to be killed, completely defenceless or something as life-threatening) and only once during a single night. Summoning them will exhaust him greatly, so he won’t be able to use them very long because he’d run out of energy very quickly (sore muscles, shortness of breath, draining of strength meaning his attacks will gradually grow weaker). The duration of the use of the Ethereal Blades won’t be any longer than a few rounds within a single battle thread, but the exact amount depends on how fast the thread is moving prose-wise. The Ethereal Blades will be able to leave a decent amount of damage upon the enemy, but within reason (a rat that has been injured might be killed, but a fellow patient or a strong monster or whatever would be another story). After he runs out of energy, they’ll disappear and he’ll feel as if he’s on the verge of fainting for the remainder of the night, leaving him vulnerable. In addition, since the Ethereal Blades extend straight from his palm, the energy they are made of will cause Xemnas damage to his own hands in the shape of first to second degree burns.
He won’t be able to use them as projectiles, only as melee weapons. If he has used his Ethereal Blades, he won’t be able to make use of his other powers for the rest of the night, despite how many times he has used the barrier.
His fighting style in general will roughly remain the same, excluding all the stuff he can no longer do. Any speed/agility/strength will be within human capabilities. Anything else I may have forgotten to cover in the first paragraph will be also gone, just saying.
Non-otherwordly abilities
As a former scientist and researcher, he’s very intelligent, with the addition of also being incredibly manipulative. Being the Superior of the Organization means he has leadership qualities and the authority that comes with it, along with the ability to plan. Considering he also quickly came up with alternatives after a certain plan failed, he’s either crazy prepared (meaning he keeps the possibility of failure in mind and created an insane amount of backup plans all the way to Plan Z) OR he can quickly adapt to situations and plan accordingly. Considering we’re talking about Xemnas here, this may be a combination of both. Finally, does pontificating at length count as an ability?
