Hello folks,
I am posing this question in my community rather than my personal journal because I would like to get as many opinions as possible.
My question is this: Does it matter/bother you if the boys are in a location other than Korea in fic? And for that matter does inserting American culture/names into a Korean atmosphere change how you look at fic?
I recently came across a fic where clearly one of the guys was not in Korea by the use of American locations.
I, as a writer of TVXQ fanfic, by default have the boys in Korea. If they are not in Korea then I make it apparent that they came or are coming from Korea.
And I was also thrown off by the very American names in the story.
So all this got me thinking, do people care about that kind of stuff?
Do you care that Jaejoong cooks eggs, bacon, french toast and drinks it down with tomato juice every single morning with his Aunt Ethel in his country house outside of Kansas city?
And, does this matter more or less (or if at all) when the story is an AU in a real world universe (excluding, sci-fi, fantasy, crossover fandoms etc)
