asuka14 nudged me. I guess I didn't realize it's been more than a month since I last updated.
Things have been very, very busy around here for the last several weeks. Last month my dad had a hip replacement procedure that had me running back and forth to Beaumont a couple of times to check in on him. He's 82 and 9 days after the procedure, his doctor told him that he was 3 weeks ahead in his progress! Yea, Dad!! He used a walker for a couple of days then moved onto a cane for about a week now he's pretty much back to his routine with just a few minor glitches like trouble sleeping and getting stove up just a bit easier but he is 82. :) I don't know if he'll ever get the sleeping down 100% since he now that both hips have been replaced and he's required to be in a position that won't cause either hip to pop out. He's having to relearn how to move about, sit, stand and twist but the doctor reassured everyone that you can teach an old dog new tricks and Dad will eventually get it...besides, with my mother watching him like a hawk, I don't think he stands a chance of messing things up. LOL!
The following week had me running Sarah back and forth to Livingston. She spent 5 nights with Mark's parents so that she could go to their congregation's VBS. She had a blast and I had to laugh at MawMaw & PawPaw by the end of the week. I told them that Sarah's visits made us appreciate her even more and they would appreciate silence/peace & calm more too. :)
After that we had a few free weeks before a week of Art Camp at our local art museum followed by a week of Zoo Camp and swim lessons. ::phew::
All in all, Sarah has had a great summer and we're about ready to begin school. I more than ready since it means I won't be burning up the roads quite as much as I have these past two months, thank goodness. :)
This past weekend Patti, Tracey & I headed to The Woodlands for a book fair for THSC (Texas Home School Coalition). It was nice putting my hands on different books, hearing pros and cons about various publishers from Tracey, who has homeschooled for 13 years and knows the ins and outs like nobody else I know. I ordered Sarah's curriculum and it should be here in about a week, week and a half. We'll be continuing with Bob Jones Math, Alpha/Omega Reading & Language, Bob Jones Science & Social Studies. I'll be throwing in other things along the way but I'm extremely pleased with what I ordered and am looking forward to getting back at it.
I'm on facebook if anyone wants to look me up...Kathryn Scott Townley. I'm pretty much there now, rather than here. If anyone wants to friend me, let me know. :) I periodically check in here but spend the majority of my time on fb.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. For my friends in the south, summer vacation is coming to a close...for some of you, I'm certain you're more than ready! LOL! For those in the north, I hope you enjoy the time you have left.
