Will the party implode already?

The Republican hostage taking has ended -- for now. They don't like how democracy works, so they tried an end-around. Then they tried to blame Democrats. If would just be pitiful if they weren't so dangerous to our nation.

Hopefully this will finally crack the party in two. Then the hope is that centrist Democrats will split off, join with the Republican moderates, and create a party that's socially liberal and fiscally conservative. The only question is if there are any Republicans who remember that matching income to expenditures doesn't mean just cutting expenditures for the most vulnerable segments of society, it's both raising revenue (yes, taxes) on the wealthiest and cutting revenues for things such as military hardware the military doesn't want.

It also means people who claim that they are capitalists to admit that capitalism requires unemployment for supply & demand to work properly for employees. Once they do that, they can be honest if they believe in Social Darwinism or in helping those who are unemployed. Only then will people be able to make open and honest choices about what kind of society they want. Only when that happens will we move forward to an economy that works for millions more Americans rather than moving back to a feudal society.

usa politics, use economics
