US, taxes and the 47%
Republicans, unsurprisingly, debunked again. This article points to a study that looked at all taxes paid by Americans and were barely a progressive system. It's clear that all segments of our society pay taxes. There's on issue, though, that means things are worse than the article points out.
In 2013, the richest one percent of Americans will pay 24 percent of the country’s total taxes while bringing in about 22 percent of the nation’s income, according to the report. Income is a minor portion of what the upper 1% hold as wealth. They control 40% of of the nation's wealth. They should be paying more than that in taxes.
