I'm looking for new glasses. I got general quotes from a bunch of places, then had my eyes tested. My reading glasses, redone within the year before I moved back, are still correct, but my middle and long distance changes mean my older progressive lenses need replacing.
I went back to stores to follow up quotes with specific numbers based on frames and prescriptions. No surprise, all the places seemed a bit more expensive than the quotes. However, one young woman saved me some money. She saw the year on my form and asked if I had an AARP membership, since the store gives a 30% discount.
AARP? Oh, right. Old is always 15 years older than you, but that's not true for a few things. AARP membership is available at age fifty. She asked me that two months before I turn fifty. I'm not buying new glasses just yet...
