Mark and I were laughing over the last few days about the Israeli cabinet minister who said we shouldn't call it swine flu. Why? Because referring to swine is an insult to Jews and Muslims. Oy.
However, today's news surpasses that in humor. The WHO has decided to stop calling it "swine flu" so as not to say pigs are dangerous. It seems that Egypt has already killed 300,000 pigs as a precaution. They were afraid people could get the swine flu by eating pork.
Now, of course, that's funny on so many levels. One, the ignorance of the leadership of a nation. Two, that protecting business seems to be a tad more important. Three, that a Muslim nations supposedly "insulted", according to the Israeli minister, has more than 300,000 pigs being raised there.
Finally, to come full circle, it's a reminder that the idiots of Israel mandate that pigs raised in Israel must spend their entire lives on platforms, never touching the soil of the land. Someone show me where the Torah, which described wild pigs, said those pigs always wore shoes...
