More proof the market isn't the economy

In a number of news reports, such as in the NYT, it's been pointed out that the market jumped when it was reported that unemployment is at the highest level in more than a decade. Why? Because that means more dividends for stockholders. Employees get in the way of that.

Make a few folks work too hard for too little, and the rich who own most of the stocks benefit. It's that simple, and it's that problem that the average US citizen is finally coming to accept. It's why the Republicans lost, but don't expect them to admit that.
