II.
1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
I.. don't know.
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't tend to make any. I don't like the feeling of "failure" coming from myself. I try to improve myself and my life as much as I can as often as I can, with no goal or starting point. [or at least, not a starting point that happened this year...]
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
Just my own. :P
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Motivation to get more things written and done artistically. It's been so dead and dry for far too long.
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
When Jayson and I first met in person. I can still very vividly recall seeing him on my doorstep, the nervousness in my chest. I can see his expression perfectly, I remember how anxious I was as we sat on my couch/futon and I couldn't say a word. Which says a lot, because when I'm nervous typically I chatter a lot.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I'm not very sure - to be honest I'm not sure I have a lot of "achievements" to speak of for this year. There's good stuff that happened but I'm not really sure I'd call them "achievements".
9. What was your biggest failure?
Unmotivated for work or play. I haven't written or drawn or anything nearly enough - which is a shame, because I still THINK about a lot of writing stuff, but I seem stuck in an infinite loop of not ever writing any of it down for some reason.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Apathy, lots and lots of depression induced apathy.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I have no idea. o_O
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I don't even know, really.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A few people's, myself included.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Groceries, bills, subway rides into the city to look for a job [when I could get myself to do that.]
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Meeting Jayson, really. I really appreciate having a relationship I can reflect on and enjoy that doesn't make me feel anxious or bad because I KNOW it's bad for me.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
I can't think of one at the moment, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist - I just have a shitty fucking memory.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter, way, way fatter. Hello size 32 pants!
iii. richer or poorer? About the same though my situation isn't as depressingly dire.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Getting out, getting a job, writing and art.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being sad, failing. [well it's true...]
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it at Jayson's family's places. Christmas eve was quite a lot of fun, I found out that I really like his family.
22. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Hehe, yeah.
23. How many one-night stands?
One. It was as shitty as I remembered it being. [different person, mind. I'm just not a one-night-stand kinda guy I guess.]
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Venture bros!!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't think so. Hate is not an emotion that comes easily to me, it's way too... strong. Usually the people who I should "hate" I won't allow myself to, as they don't deserve the energy and thought behind that emotion. Disdainful apathy, though...
26. What was the best book you read?
I didn't read nearly enough, damn. Usually I'm a one-a-week-or-two kind of person, but my reading was way way down this year. I think the book I am reading right now, A Fire Upon The Deep by Vernor Vinge is pretty good, though.
27. What was your greatest musical (re)discovery?
My year was sadly lacking in any musically revolutionary events. I am sure this helps play into my lack of writing, as that is a very strong source of inspiration.
28. What did you want and get?
A Nintendo DSlite! Also I guess getting to live with Jayson... though I sorely wish it was "living with Jayson... closer to my friends."
29. What did you want and not get?
Living with Jayson, closer to my friends.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I don't even know. I don't think I saw anything that was pants pissingly good, sadly. I guess "Dead Snow" was pretty good.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I don't remember, and no, not because of fun shit, haha. I turned a quarter of a century old. Which wouldn't be depressing if I didn't feel like I haven't done enough. I'll probably always feel that way, no matter what I do.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being able to support myself and stay where I was long enough to make a move that was perfectly right, instead of dictated by a lack of funds.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
"I don't have enough money to look really good." This year is even worse. No offense or anything, but Walmart jeans are not the height of fashion and I feel pretty hideous when I have to put on clothes these days. I mean, at least I have clothes, but sorry, I'm a pissy enough queen to complain that I don't look-feel good.
34. What kept you sane?
AZZY!!! Omg, Azzy, so much. From the shittiness of not being able to look for a job to ... well, everything. I have Azzy to thank for making my life better. I guess Jayson, too :P But I have less stressors here/NEED to be kept sane.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Fuck if I know.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't know.
37. Who did you miss?
A lot of people...
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I'm not really sure I met anyone new who I could put in this category...
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:
"Something something don't fail yourself."
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Not exactly a song lyric, so forgive me, but -
"If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch you must first invent the universe"
III.
Go to your calendar and find the first entry for each month in 2009. Post the first line/sentence of it in your journal, and that's your "Year in Review."
I'm not doing this part right now, sorry. :P I didn't even make enough entries honestly.
