A Thought on Reconciliation

It is the height of arrogance to assume that one adheres to either wholly conservative or wholly liberal ideology in political or social thinking. Not only is it arrogant but grossly ignorant to judge someone on a specific view in a specific context. I agree. Even though I'm not very religious myself, if I had grown up without the moral guidance of Christianity I don't think I'd like myself very much. I'm not sure religions are the best authority on ethics, but right now it's all we've got. (Besides philosophy, which is a little hard for many minds to grasp at an early age, not to mention the logic of most viewpoints still being debated.)

When I was younger, I was raised to be christian. That ended the day I began to think.

I have nothing against religion, I just ponder the idea that they could provoke more self-led thought instead of giving you thoughts and prodding you down one path. Some religious people I know have a very good, personal perspective on their religion. Others have taken the box and just stuck with that.

Religion is there to deal with death mostly. It's hard to swallow at times that your loved ones (or yourself) will just cease to exist. Religion offers a great story to please the mind. I just believe the true heaven is living on in the minds of those you knew. Religion offers comfortable time for reflection on those people.

Yes, so religion isn't so bad. My view of it is a bit weird, yes. Those who are devoutly religion will get up in arms about my views. That's life. I'm not stopping them from doing their thing, but there certainly has been a lot more of it going in the reverse :)
