All I want...

is a Dyson. No, not the hot one from Lost Girl (though if someone can provide such, I'll take him!). No, what I want for my birthday is a Dyson vacuum cleaner. I've had several people who have pet heavy homes tell me that it's a life saver. If I save my pennies, lots of them, I may try and get a refurbished one at some point.

Consider getting a refurbished Rainbow off of eBay. They're amaaaaaaaaazing. Especially for pets and allergies.

I love my dyson, but as it's an older model (and not the specialist pet one) the roller does get clogged with a mixture of my long hair and the dog hair so it occasionally needs to be cut off the roller so it works efficiently. Other than that, I have no problems with it - it was a refurbished model when I got it and I've had it for at least 7 years now.

That's a good age for a vacuum!

Having two cats in a very tiny apartment, my pet model Dyson is an absolute life saver! Have had mine about 6-7 years now and will not go to anything else. It is the best vacuum cleaner! The suction never diminishes and it will literally brush carpet indentations up, every single time. It's easy to disassemble for any necessary cleaning and as one of the commenter's earlier said, the only regular thing I must do is cut the hair off the roller. That's not a hassle compared to what must be done for other vaccuums I have had in the past.

I went through so many vacuums until I got my Dyson. It was more expensive but has been worth it, especially when you have pets.

Also keep an eye on Woot as they sometimes have them there.

Yeah, I think I've been through three in recent memory.
