Aside from the massive blood loss and the painfully itchy healing wounds, I will live.

The hospital probably has extra blood stored in the banks for occasions like this.

Unless you're not a fan of hospitals.

I'm not a fan of fast food or TV dinners.

Fast food and TV dinners didn't exist, where and when I'm from, but what I've had in the City's better than what they served at the mess halls.

So no one's offered you anything fresh? You don't seem like the type who needs to ask, but. I shouldn't judge.

What I have had in the City has at least been...interesting.

Asking takes less energy than other options. I don't have the energy to spare at the moment.

I hear that's standard fare, in the City.

Well, if asking passerby leaves you empty-handed, let me know.

You don't seem like the typical type who offers themselves.

Or perhaps you do.

I'm not the only one in the City; do you really need it spelled out?

Some kind of a human healer.

Do you know that most who offer themselves to us are looking for death. That is what we are.

Healer makes it sound nice. Also makes it sound like I'm capable of doing anything for other people with this 'gift.'

Don't be so quick to exclude me from that majority. Those who cheat death unwillingly can still chase after it.

I could make it enjoyable for you.

Is that supposed to make me feel better about it? I'm offering. You don't owe anything.

No. I just know that I could.
