but i did go to yokohama and try to start small conversations of where things were with japanese girls. i also gave out balloons to some womens that an ad guy gave to my shipmate for a promotion.
oh, and i went to china town in the yokohama district. while there, an explosion occured which people all started to cringe. then i could hear drums, or what sounded like drums and smash. i realized that i was watching a dance competition between two great lions, so great that they had both managed to swallow two men whole each. there dance competition was to the top of some pole, by jumping rhythmically from pole to pole. two lions, one gold the other white. it was intense, and the gold had the upper hand the whole time. it was pretty cool, what with the crowds that gathered to watch this notorious battle.
then i walked down to this place yagimisha or yashimiga park, where if you bring a date, you're guaranteed to get laid. i don't think it matters who you are really, but that's what it strikes me as. the place is beautiful, and even has its own hired singers, boat cruises, and ferris wheel. and gardens of flowers and fountains broken into giant walkways next to the water. be-a-u-tiful. only word to describe it.
upon returning to yokohama, the trains cost a lot because you have to pay about two dollars every time you change tracks, i went to a record store that has the best selection i've seen in my life. they even had flaming lips c.d.s i'd never heard of, punk, pop, i picked up three jazz c.d.s here that took me a couple of months to find back in the states, even though they're fairly popular ones. i don't think i'll ever get the jazz or funk section of my music back, only the rock and punk, so i'm building that part up from scratch out here.
i plan to go to tokyo next week if i get the time. i'd go tomorrow if i hadn't spent so much money today and i wanted to be able to do something next weekend, so i'm just holding it off. hopefully i'll get out there, until then i'm just going to explore the area around the base when i can, and take walks and try to get better at speaking japanese. i kind of know a bit, but get the words mixed up like a dyslexic. can't help it. i'm thinking of getting one of those "learn japanese" books. at least it can be a hobby, which reminds me of other things i need to take care of, and hopefully use later.
peace (while doing the peace symbol)
