i'm coming home to breathe again [tag Damon and Elijah]

"Did you message Elijah yet?"  Rebekah asked, looking to Damon as she exited the younger vampire's bedroom.  Her hair was still damp from an earlier shower, spilling down her back in soft curls as she walked around in nothing but a pair of panties and a shirt that she had borrowed from Damon.  He called it a wifebeater shirt which was a truly ( Read more... )

Damon hadn't named the shirt, so he was pretty much going to ignore any offense at it--blame the humans, they were always giving things stupid, offensive names. But he definitely liked the look of it on her, and took advantage of the peek when she bent over, giving her an admiring once-over from where he was sprawled on the sofa ( ... )

At least Damon was being a lot better about not distracting Elijah because Rebekah would have totally not cared. She had a tendency to demand attention when she wanted it but luckily she had been distracted by a shower and a naked, wet Damon.

Catching the look from Damon as she looked at the nail polish again, she nodded a bit. "Okay." She hadn't seen twilight and so she didn't know about sparkling vampires and whatnot but she had been leaning towards the plumberry color anyhow.

Putting the glittery nail polish away, she leaned back on the couch, shifting to make herself comfortable as she cracked open the bottle. The scent of nail polish filled the air, causing her to wrinkle her nose but clearly it didn't bother her enough to keep her from starting to do her nails.

Damon didn't have any concept of Twilight being a thing somewhere--but he'd met Edward, seen him around, and avidly disliked him. The fact that he sparkled just added insult to injury. He gave her an approving look for taking his suggestion and going with the non-sparkling nail polish.

He wrinkled his nose a little at the scent, as well, but she looked really cute sitting there in his shirt, so he wasn't going to protest too loudly. Instead, he pulled out his messenger and went ahead and sent Elijah a message.

"So...were you shopping for a special occasion, or just strappy heels for fun?" He didn't know of anything in particular coming up, but that didn't mean anything. To be fair, he didn't always pay the best attention to village events unless they were loudly announced.

She could her him using his messenger and she smirked faintly, knowingly, before glancing up. "Asking my brother to come save you?"

Focusing back on her nails, she shrugged a bit at the question. "I was bored." And she had just gotten paid, so why not?

"I'll probably wear them to work this weekend."

Truthfully, she had needed the distraction. Having Elijah back in the village was nice, it was exactly what she wanted, but he had come with news that just didn't sit well with her and there were times when it weighed on her. Times when nothing could distract her from the dark and dangerous thoughts that bothered her.

"Asking him to come and join us," Damon said virtuously, glancing back up at him, smirking in turn, both at her and at one of Elijah's message. "Isn't that what you wanted me to do?"

He set the messenger aside and reached out to snag her calf, shifting carefully to not mess up her painting, until he could just run his fingers up and down her skin lightly, tracing fingertips around her ankle. "I think that is a brilliant idea--though it may leave me a little too distracted to get may done, depending how hot they are."

Both of the siblings were obviously disturbed, still. He was glad Elijah was back--for her sake and for his own--but he wanted to help and he didn't know if there was anything else besides distraction he could provide.

"Of course it was." She replied easily with a smirk, looking somewhat amused.

She paused as he moved to join her, lifting the brush away from her nail so she didn't mess up on what she was doing. Of course, the feel of his fingers drifting over her skin was highly distracting, eliciting a little shiver even while she tried to focus on what she was doing once more.

"On their own, they're rather nice but paired with the skirt I bought?" She glanced at him through her long lashes, flashing a coy little smirk.

The distractions he provided were nice and exactly what she needed because, right now, there was nothing she could do about what was going on back home. She hadn't gone back to experience it yet and she honestly didn't want to. Knowing about it was bad enough.

"Well, then. As always I aim to please." He wasn't really used to this, yet, this casual lazing the day away with someone. He had to admit to liking it more than a little. He kept up the little touches, not stopping at the shiver, though he really wasn't trying to mess up her nails or anything.

"Now I'm going to be thinking about that for the rest of the night...or the rest of the week..."

He slid his fingers higher, then slowly back down to her ankle again. "You're supposed to be providing security, not cause riots," he teased lightly.

The only people that she had enjoyed the luxury of lazing around with had been her brothers which had always been an entirely different kind of lazing around than what it was now but she enjoyed it. Enjoyed this and enjoyed him.

She looked vaguely pleased with the riot comment, shrugging a little. "The only ones who will notice or care is you or Elijah." Other vampires tended to stay away from her.

Damon hadn't even had that, really. He and Stefan had been apart for the past five centuries and before that....well. Before that, they hadn't really spent a great deal of time around each other. Certainly not lazing. He'd spent most of his life pretty solitary, besides the human mercenaries he chose to fight with, to hunt with--and they were no real brethren.

"You are stunningly beautiful," he told her. "Everyone notices, even if they aren't willing to act upon it." Because most weren't idiots, but they were young, and Elijah was scary in his calmness.

Rebekah would like to think that people didn't approach her because of her own ability to strike fear in their hearts but she knew her brothers had a large part in it. They always had, right from the time she was little.

"You were willing." She pointed out with a playful smirk, finishing one hand. "And quite a few times after that."

Damon had a healthy respect for all three of them, but fear had never been his thing. He shrugged slightly. "I've always been prone to tread where others fear to," he said with a smile. "And I've found it tends to reap me great rewards." His smile definitely included her in that.

"Though, to be fair to the others, your brother was there the first time..."

Rebekah could respect that fear wasn't his thing as it made him a lot more fun to be around than those who never acted because they were scared of the consequences. She smiled, focusing on her nails once more as she nodded. "Yes, he was." She felt tingles as some memories rushed through her mind of that night.

"I think I'll remember that first time for the rest of my life." She commented casually even though it was a big thing to say.

Damon leaned back and gave her a little smile, curious. He kept up the little touches to her skin as he did so.

"I know I will." the curious look remained. "It was the first time for the two of you, too, wasn't it?"

That wasn't generally something he'd ask, but he'd noticed their hesitance with each other. In a way it surprised him, when he thought of it later, that they'd wanted him there.

Rebekah didn't answer him at first as she seemed intent on getting her thumb nail painted just right, especially since she hated getting even a little bit of paint on her cuticle.

But then she nodded. "It was."

He gave her the time to finish her painting, or gather her thoughts or whatever she needed. His fingers stilled against her skin, curling lightly around and against her calf.

"You're good together," he commented mildly. "And not just in looks."

"You think so?" She glanced up at him curiously. lifting one hand closer to her mouth so she could blow a stream of air over her nails to make them dry a bit faster.
