2005

Jan 01, 2006 15:32

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before? Left home, went to uni. Walked out of the school gates knowing I'd never have any obligation to be there again. Span fire. Went on a unicycle. Went into a bar without the fear of being ID'd.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I'm not sure I can remember what my new years' resolutions were. I think the main one was to be happier, and I think I kept that but it's hard to tell. My ones for 2006 are to go running at least twice a week up until the half marathon.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My aunt Lori had non-identical twin boys, Samuel and Jason

4. Did anyone close to you die? I'd never say Doug and I were close, but basically, fuck off if that doesn't count

5. What countries did you visit? Spain (Menorca)

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005? More food - so I can eat until I don't feel hungry any more and don't have to feel guilty that I can't afford it. Red and white juggling balls.

7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Results day, because I have never felt so relieved. The whole week after Doug died, when it snowed and snowed - the wall of Doug and his song, his funeral, the graveyard, cafe amoeba. The whole two weeks of Menorca, but especialy the first few days. York. Seeing Green Day at Milton Keynes. Seeing Idlewild at St George's

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Staying together with Oz - though it was no effort at all. Getting 4 As at A level, that was a lot of effort

9. What was your biggest failure? No idea. I didn't massively fail at anything really. Not having enough confidence in myself

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Not really, only minor things, though I did have a couple of bad days

11. What was the best thing you bought? My juggling stuff (balls, firestaff, unicycle). Oz's Christmas present and all the other random things I've given him this year =) Oh, and my lovely iBook, I'm sorry, but anyone who says that windows is better than mac is talking bollocks

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? Connie, for completely and utterly understanding the Bantony hatred and being in the same position as me. The whole of the 6th form for pulling together. Oz, for too many things

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? Dr Neill's, Bell's

14. Where did most of your money go? University - accommodation and tuition mainly (though so far that's been my student loan, so it's not even my money)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Going to uni, Oz visiting me there

16. What song will always remind you of 2005? Bloody I predict a riot, by Kaiser Chiefs. It was like the only song they ever played in Freshers' Week. A day in the life of me.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or Sadder? Definitely much happier
Thinner or Fatter?Exactly the same
Richer or Poorer? Both - I have lots of money but that doesn't mean I have enough to eat and buy things I need

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Juggling, I'm still actually quite appalling at it

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Umm, getting mad at Oz. Sitting in my room with the door shut

20. How did you spend Christmas? I went for a run on Christmas day. How dedicated is that?! Generally, I spent it at home eating, seeing Oz lots and not revising

22. Did you fall in love in 2005? With Oz, again, a bajillion times. With music, places and people

23. How many one-night stands? None

24. What was your favorite TV program? Lost, no contest

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No, I don't think I actually hate anyone

26. What was the best book you read? Ummm, I don't know. I'm always crap at remembering books I've read. I have been liking and reading a lot of Christopher Brookmyre though, thanks to Oz's fat collection. I think my favourite one was the green one where they were all in a mansion house thing in Scotland then people tried to kill them all. I forget what it was called

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Maybe REM. I heard Shiny Happy People on the radio one day and went, ".......My God, they DO sound like Idlewild!" then decided to give them a listen. Possibly Biffy Clyro too, I liked them in Reading but then never listened to them after that even though I meant to (and still do)

28. What did you want and get? A place at Bath, an iBook

29. What did you want and not get? Same as Connie, a working alarm clock. I broke mine when I dropped it (I was juggling it)

30. What was your favourite film of this year? Like with books, I can't remembe what films I've seen this year. Not Harry Potter.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? 18. I went to London for the weekend with Oz; we went on the Eye and to the Tate Modern, and to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? If I learnt to juggle properly. If lecturers actually put their goddamn lecture notes on the net. If Bell had resigned.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? Stylish and sometimes quirky

34. What kept you sane? Oz. At CHS, Connie; at Bath, Laura and Jen

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? In 2005, I'd have to say Charlie from Lost, he's so lovely! But also Billy Joe from Green Day, seeing them live probably the most goddamn rockin' thing I did all year

36. What political issue stirred you the most? Probably when they shot de Menezes on the underground

37. Who did you miss? My friends from CHS when I was at Bath. Doug.

38. Who were the best new people you met? Bath people, but especially Laura and Jen. And Mars, Mark and Mark, Bob, Dom - hell, all the GV people

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005: Nobody really knows how to dance

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: "And everything is always changing, and nothing stays in the same place for too long". But then, that could sum up any year.

Happy 2006 =)
