At Long Last

So, we finally got our cameras back at work today.
For those who haven't heard this story before, we started having more and more problems with our very expensive studio cameras, and the picture from them became crappier and crappier. We shut down for a week so that the engineer could work on them and I could install our new CG computers. As the week ground on, it became more and more apparent that they were WAY beyond what he could do with the equipment we had. replaceing 2 $20k cameras was far beyond anything we could budget, but we got the mayor to pony up about $8k to repair all 3. We contacted Panasonic, got the name of the best repair guy they knew, contacted him, and shipped the cameras out for repair.

That was in April of 2005.

As you can probably imagine, not having any cameras in our studio presented a bit of an issue, so our portable studio rig has been serving in the meantime. Naturally, as time wore on, the boss was less than pleased. It presented all kind of problems, primarily with scheduling between shoots in the studio and shoots with the portable rig.

So now the cameras are back, and that means less work for me in the long run. Friday we reinstall them, and in the process we'll re-light the studio. Hopefully they will work like frackin' gold, or there's going to be much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
