Fight!
I haven't posted an entry for a while. Primarily this is because I find that journals that bitch about work are the #2 dumbest thing that people can write (second to blogging about dieting), and that's really what i was doing a lot.
So, I've decided to write more about the SCA, and the things that I'm doing there.
First, I can't believe I let myself do it, but I've become the baronial Knight Marshal. Again. Basicly that makes me responsible for (and theoretically in charge of) all the fighting activities that happen in the barony. It also means that I have to write monthly reports and go to pointless meetings and other joyous crap like that.
We've gotten a new transplant to the barony, coming from Moscow Idaho. He fights an entirely different style than anyone around here, and he's pretty good at it. This has really given a couple of us a bit of a jolt, to help get us progressing more in our fighting. It's actually kind of refreshing. Combined with the expanded training we're working on in different styles, I believe that we have a lot of potential to really become top-knotch fighters.
This works well with my quest for knighthood.
Uprising went pretty well this year. For the first year since we've been playing in the SCA, neither my wife nor I had a meltdown at Uprising. Normally there's some stress issues that come to a head at the event and cause one of us to lose it. Not so this year. We partied every night, and fought every day. Well, *I* fought every day. Our camp was very upscale, appearance wise. I recieved a Golden Pillar of Artemisia, a service award, and my son recieved a Gryphon's Pride, an award given to youth who display exemplary qualities.
4 weeks out is the kingdom's 10th birthday. It's shaping up to be an Epic Event.
