My double feature plan worked very well last night with the timing and all, and while I ended up going alone, I had a good time watching two good movies last night.
The first movie was Zack and Miri Make a Porno, the new Kevin Smith movie. This movie (not part of the Jay and Silent Bob continuity) is about two broke friends who decide to make a porn movie in order to pay the bills. I don't want to spoil the movie, let's just say that the stars Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen are very adorable in this one and have good chemistry, and the movie has really good dialogs and proves the Kevin Smith should continue making movies.
The second movie was Twilight, based on the first in the series of the popular books. I haven't read the source material, though I have it here somewhere, but from what I hear no self respecting feminist likes the series for the portrayal of the female lead. I didn't see this problem in the movie (and what could be constured as sentiments that no woman should really say, I chalked up as a high school girl crush).
All in all, I found that movie very interesting (enough to make me want to read the source material and or watch the movie again) and inviting even to someone who doesn't know the story. The acting was good in almost all instances, though Robert Pattison in the male lead made some interesting choices there, though I assume that's what made the character what he is. Besides, while I only saw him in Harry Potter 4, I applaude the transformation with the American accent, look and behaviourism and all.
Saw some promising movie trailers last night. I am most interested in the new Adam Sandler movie -- that one looks promising. Until then, the only movie I want to see is the new James Bond, but after that I don't know when I'll be back to the movies...
