I attended a table read for a new play by my former acting teacher. It was a new experience for me (and quite frankly I felt like a dream come true -- always wanted to be a part of a table read): We all set around a big table with the text in front of us, and each had a part and we just read the text.
Afterwards we had a discussion with the playwright in a collaborative fashion - what worked for us, what didn't, what we got from the play.
I enjoy the night immensely. Firstly, I really like the play. Moreover, the discussion later was thought provoking and it got me thinking of stuff that I didn't see when I read the text alone.
I really like being part of the creative process!
