Oh man, some great stuff came out this week.  Just when Matt Fraction is making a very real play for the title as my favorite writer with two great books in one week, Grant Morrison reminds me that I am, in fact, totally gay for Grant Morrison.

I think we've had this conversation numerous times before. While Wolverine is what I would say an effective character, in that his induction made a lot of changes in mainstream comic books, the character in and of itself is extremely bland. Everyone likes him, because frankly it's hard not to like a mean-spirited little do-gooder fuck that simply can't stay down, but really?

I think the Spectre is a better hero than Wolverine. Savage Dragon? Absolutely. The Tick? Most definitely. Hell, I'd even pick Aztek over Wolverine as simply a better-created character and hardly anyone really bothers thinking about those guys anymore. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's that there's still an ongoing Wolverine book that hasn't been canceled even though it hasn't been even remotely good for, what, 15 years? The book came out in '88 and I don't think it's been worth the paper it's been printed on since... before that when Frank miller wrote the mini. That being the case, then, yeah, that's saying something about a character. Hell, Aztek didn't even last 2 years before he blew himself up.

Buz always cringes when he hears debates on a Batman/Wolverine fight.
