I’ve been watching a lot of old episodes of the “the Simpsons,” and while it isn’t new to complain that the last decent season was almost ten years ago, I think I’ve discovered something crucial to writing good episodes.
Homer Simpson must take everything very, very, very personal.
“I hate you, Walt ‘Freaking’ Whitman! Leaves of green my ass!”
Not to mention how upset he gets at any dean or teacher that tries to educate him.
Go back and watch an old one, that’s the key to writing a great Homer.
