Suggestions? Well, you're off to a great start with the Thompson and Garand. If possible, keep an eye out for anyone with WWII German kit. An StG 44 / MP 44 (world's first assault rifle) or a G41 / G43 rifle (German's attempt at a Garand but magazine fed). MG42 is also a good idea from Luke, but averaging 1200 rounds a minute, you'd burn through your $20 of rounds in 2, maybe 2.5 seconds.

Also, the good old 1919 30. cal. An AK if you feel like it, nothing too remarkable about firing it to be honest.

IMI Galil (has a bottle opener built into the foregrip, clearly a gentleman's weapon)

and I've seen mail call enough to know they have several small artillery pieces, so yeah, hook that up.

If you're lucky, you might see then H&K 416 or 417. It's H&K's version of how an M4 should really work and it's probably the most reliable 5.56 rifle on the planet. Very new, very sexy, etc etc. Also, someone might have a the rifle made by FN and designed for the special forces - the SCAR. Keep an eye out for the 7.62 version, it's the new hotness.

The list is endless, just shoot as much as you can within your budget. And if they're not looking, walk off with the Thompson.
