I had my appointment with the Neurosurgeon yesterday. I can't say that it went well at all. It turns out that my disk isn't swollen, like I was once told, but is rather slightly degenerated, and bulged out poking into my spine, which is what causes me so much pain. They want to do fusion of the vertebre, which will take out the disk, and they will basically bind the two vertebre together. Great, that will just eliminate a bunch of flexibility in my back. The only good thing about it, is it will take away the pain. But after a few years, my other disks will start to bend in place of the one that was taken out. And guess what, those will become herniated as well. I won't be able to lift weights anymore, nor will I be able to be a cop in the civilian world. On top of all that, if I don't get this surgery, (or even if I do) I will end up being medically discharged from the military. God, this sucks. OH!!! And I learned something else today. The military likes to fuck people in the ass without lube. Example: My enlistment is up in August, and if they are going to put me up through a medical evaluation board, they will end up waiting until I am eligible for re-enlistment, then put me up through the board. The military will not let me re-enlist, and won't give me a medical discharge, therefore not paying me any benefits that I would/should get. So, all in all, I will be kicked out of the military with a disability that they won't take responsibility for. Fucking wonderful. Now I am trully demoralized. I won't let them get away with this........
