its early

Greetings from the Southwest, El Paso Texas specifically. All is well here in EP. Im up early because my friend Vivien (the one who I am staying with) has to have the backyard sprinkler system repaired and I got put in charge to oversee the guy while she's at work. I figure its no big deal, its the least I can do since she lets me stay here for free. The repairman seems really nice, a mexican man, his english isnt that great but he is trying to learn and use it and I respect that. I can tell he is a hard worker and honest. He seemed to relax or feel more comfortable when I speak to him or ask him questions in spanish. Like he respects the fact I am trying to learn his language.
El Paso is very brown, not a whole lot of color. Not really any trees to speak of, cactus and yucca plans abound here. but that has its own estetic quality to it. Even though the town is over 600 thousand people, it still feels like a slower pace of life. The city is very spread out and they do not have any high rises or tall buildings that would signify a downtown/business section of town.
Dallas was a really cool town. I enjoyed my 5 days there. I walked around downtown took a lot of pictures and walked around Dealey Plaza where Kennedy was assasinated and took plenty of pictures. It was weird being there, you can feel the history, you can feel in the atmosphere that a very tragic event happened there. After I was done testing with the Dallas Police, which I passed the first phase of testing by the way, is when i did my touring. At the end of my second day there when I was finished with the testing the police recruiter I talked to called me and asked if I wanted to go on a ride along with the police. Ummm..hell yeah! So that was a fun time, rode a 12 hour shift with them, met some really nice officers. Everyone was super nice from the brass to secretaries in the office.
