Hey guys and gals, this is me taking advantage of some free internet at a hotel in Kobe. I left this so late...I never even got to write an account of my stay with my Host family! And now Christmas has already passed and it's suddenly New Year's Eve. When did that happen? O_o
In summary, the host family stay was an awesome experience and I really hope I get to see them at least one more time before I go back (and, I may, because Miyu, the 8 year old girl in the family desperately wanted to watch Ponyo on DVD with me when I said I never got the chance to see it.) It was a family of four, Yoshie and Akira, the aforementioned Miyu and 5-year old Yuuta. I had a lot of fun playing and drawing with the kids (and also failing magnificently at Mario Kart Wii, and making Pokemon origami). On the second day we went to Robosquare, which was fun, and Canal City so the kids could go to the Pokemon center. Miyu even picked out a gift for me; it's a little bag with Eevee/Espi/Blakki on it.
Anyway since the 23rd I've been travelling with my family; we've been in Osaka, Hakuba, Kyoto and got to Kobe yesterday; tomorrow we go back to Fukuoka. Hakuba is a small village up near the japanese alps where we spent Christmas; it was my first ever christmas in winter. It was so nice to have a white christmas though! We even got to go skiing, although all I really learnt was that I royally sucked at it and it's fun until you fall over and hit your head on the ground.
My stay in Osaka was pretty much just DenDen town. We didnt have a lot of time, but I fulfilled my mission (Miku doujinshi, which are for some inexplicable reason absurdly hard to find), and I also managed to get the 'pasta version' of the Italy one coin figure. (which you can otherwise only get by buying the first 4 dvds from animate, something I dont have the funds to do). Also Ore-sama CD.
Kyoto was disappointing for us because we forgot to factor in the new year period into the trip so a lot of the places we wanted to go (such as the manga museum) were closed for the entire period we were there. :C But we did get to see the giant Buddha and the deer park at Todaiji temple in Nara, which was worth it I guess.
Merry late Christmas to everyone, and a Happy New Year! What were you all doing 10 years ago? I was 11 and was just about to start year 6, and had only just started using the internet. (Neopets and pokemon fansites, lulz) My drawings were entirely talking cats and dogs with stupid names like Spambam.
