After a year here, I thought I've seen lotsa stuff here in this City, but this is somethin' new! When I look at people I get hit by visions or somethin' like that. Some visions are weird, some are nice, some are kinda freaky . . . wonder what that means ( Read more... )

i'd run right into hell and back, just like the aoiya, older misao is still the same, she keeps going and going and going, at least not a weasel today, curse, windows to the soul, happy happy happy!, i would do anything for love, affected, birthday, party times

I'd assume so. It'll be hard to meet eyes otherwise.

[Tseng doesn't waste any time in meeting her gaze. There's nothing to say, when it's something like this.

His soul, unsurprisingly, is nowhere near as pretty as hers. What little color there is muted, as if there's something blocking out the sun, and everywhere she looks there's bloodstains - most of it's not his, but his is there as well.

And somewhere in the middle of it all is Tseng, gun drawn and aimed at an enemy she can't see. His life is - and likely always will be - defined his work. But somehow - somehow - there's an undeniable sense that no matter how many people he's killed and no matter what he's done he's a good person. Willing to die and bleed for those he considers his. The cause of the splotches of blood that are his, perhaps?

But the answers aren't forthcoming and then the vision is gone as Tseng breaks eye contact.]

[Misao watches with an initial sense of surprise, though this quickly fades into familiarity--she has watched the Oniwabanshuu, her family, live lives like his--dictated by work and bloodshed, but not necessarily defining them as villains or heroes. They lived in worlds struggling for peace, dictated by the gun and the sword and the weapon . . . but they were good people, only living lives that they knew.]

[And while their paths were not ideal . . . they fought as they knew how.]

[While Misao had seen her own share of bloodshed, her shoul was almost untouched by it--the shadows of the swirls of blue and white and gold were shadows of rest and peace.]

[Tseng's life - or the one at home - is such that he can't afford much in the way of rest (workaholic that he is), but there's a smile on his face as the visions end.]

Not scary at all. You needn't worry.

[Misao smiled too. His soul was familiar to her, and comfortable.]

Lookin' at you ain't bad either. Reminds me of home.

Here, perhaps. Elsewhere, who can say for sure?

Yeah, I grew up seein' war. The government said we're gonna have an era of peace . . . but I still gotta see that.
