a reaction to child abuse

I posted this as a comment to a story about child abuse:

The abuse and destruction of youth, despite its revulsion, is an institution in and of itself. Ff we would only open our eyes to realize it, maybe we would be able to get a better grasp of the problem. The education system and the entertainment market teach people that who they are is not good enough and that only the mainstream is what is smart. Just because a child does not learn according to our popular Prussian methods or that someone does not appear to be a model should not be a reason for feeling insecure or harassment. It seems that child abuse is deeply seated in our cultures, institutions, and conventions but we focus only on its most superficial aspects. These problems are not aberrations, there are very clear reasons for them. Unfortunately people feel so disenfranchised that they cannot even begin to understand why.
