Thursday: work Christmas party. Got a free movie pass in the chinese gift exchange. Isabelle made the awesomest custom apron, much coveted and thrice-stolen. Daniel brought a scarf with POCKETS IN THE END, which Bosslady eventually won. It was genius, and I'm reverse-engineering one for Belly in exchange for her embroidering tattoo-style birds on my apron pockets. Needlecraft trades! Yay!
Friday: went home to Mom & Dad's. When I came in, there was cheese grits casserole cooking in the oven, the tree was all set up, and my mom had on the ONE Christmas CASSETTE she owns. It was such a sensory overload of Christmas and Home I plopped down in the middle of the living room and nearly cried. We had our family Christmas that night, as my Dad is going to be out of town and Granddad and his wife are going to visit her daughter on Christmas day. Dad boiled crab legs, and we covered the table in newspaper and just cracked open crab legs for 40 minutes. In possible the sweetest act I have ever seen from the cranky old man, my Granddad cracked open all of his wife's crab legs for her and put the meat in a little pile. Then we opened gifts. Both Mom and I got this AMAZING set of circular knitting needles that we'd both been lusting after.
Saturday: Aunt's Christmas party in Arlington. It's mostly for the old folks, and only one of my cousins was there, so we went to a sports bar and played pool with the neighbor kid(who is no longer a neighbor or a kid) we used to torment as children. Crashed at Aunt's, drove home at buttfuck early in the morning, stopped at Ihop, where a trucker told me I was looking beautiful today, and I got to hear a waitress bitch at a cook(with another waitress translating) about the hair in her breakfast. I checked, no hair in my banana pancakes.
Sun-Tues: Work, sleep, eat, misc.
Today: woke up late. Tried to clean the apartment. Became disgusted with apartment. Used movie pass to go see The Golden Compass with Tick. Liked it, would probably like it more if I'd ever read the books. But, there was a Bearfight, lots of cute animals, and Sam Elliot had a jackrabbit for a daemon. Fun for the whole family.
Now: Go to work, work all night, go get a bloody bank account so I can stop A: hoarding cash tips in a Secret Stash, and B: driving 90 miles to deposit paychecks so I can pay rent.
