[Landa] Burrow

I should be back in a few hours, barring any obstacles. I found good soap, at last.

Good. I’ll be waiting.

She dropped the phone back into her pocket and straightened up, looking around the room. Now would be a good time to leave.

They’d been holed up together for a week. Seven days of crafting explosives, shooting practice, and sex, and Landa still wasn’t sure what the other woman was planning. Risska had found her, following the unsubtle tracks she’d scattered across the internet, and while she’d hoped to make contacts, she hadn’t expected her to move in and make herself comfortable.

Quiet though Risska was, the lack of solitude was unbearable at times. Landa had resorted to climbing out and up to the roof most nights, just to get a breath of air that wasn’t shared with someone else. The room was cramped and stuffy at the best of times, and sometimes even her own breathing grew too loud.

It was beginning to rush in her ears now, and she turned her attention to the wall, counting scorch marks. Fist-sized craters and spidery tendrils of soot marred the plaster, built up over days of practice. It didn’t seem to matter what weapon her mind conjured up, the damage was the same.

Though the mess made her wince, it was oddly satisfying. Cathartic, that was the word. There was a release that came with taking out her anger on the walls, on the undead, on the world. Here, she told them with each punch, this is for me. This is for you. This is for everything.

Of course, it was that world she would be going out into if she left now. She scowled, folding her arms to pick at the ragged elbows of her coat.

At least Risska hadn’t done more than stare.

Still, she didn’t trust the woman, uniform or not. There was no reason for someone like her to be here, no reason for her to be helping- a bed partner wasn’t so hard to find here, she knew that much from watching Twitter. There had to be something there, something that she wanted from Landa. Diversion, distraction, a disposable decoy? But the Dragon didn’t seem the sort to work like that.

It wouldn’t hurt to stay until she knew why.
