Violet,
Hope this reaches you. Not sure how slow the mail is around here, but they say it goes out every week, so that's something.
I think they don't get many new people out here. The scribe supplier got all excited when I went to buy inks, and loaded me down with at least four different colors. I haven't checked all the bottles yet.
okay I checked and it's 5 colors--RED, BLACK, BLUE, PURPLE, GREEN
Anyway, the weather's interesting. Mostly not there. It's hot and dry and windy, except when it's cold and dry and windy. Doesn't seem to be much pattern to it. Maybe it's the moons, or where the sun ought to be. I expected more rain. They say that happens west of here, in the marshes. Hope I don't get sent there next.
I've been practicing my shields when I have time, and trying not to get into too many fights. Only if someone else starts trouble, or I think they're going to. Brawls are discouraged here--too much danger from the demons as it is--so the training dummies see a lot of abuse.
Speaking of demons, I haven't seen any yet myself, but
I have the worst timing. Infernal rain--just barely managed to get inside. They keep healers in the back til it's over, no use getting one of us crushed by a falling fiery demon. So I can say I've seen one now. More than one. They just drop out of the sky, curled up in their green eggs, and then break apart and go roaming through the camp. The grunts couldn't do much, but we had some mages from Silvermoon and a few from the Undercity, and they called down ice to put a stop to it. Guess elves are good for something after all.
Other than what just happened, it's been pretty quiet here. I guess I'll get to see some action soon enough. Getting restless now that I'm settled in, and so are the goblins who came through the portal with me. They've been talking about going out to try for the bounty on this one stoneflayer (you wouldn't believe me if I told you) and I might go with them. It would be nice to have a little spare silver. Anything good costs extra here, since they have to bring it through the portals.
Shen'ju isn't much liking it here, but she's been hunting scorpids so I suppose she's doing alright. I think she misses the mice and crawfish. She's got a web above my hammock, but hasn't caught much yet. Not many bugs out here, and I guess the scorpids mostly get to them first.
I think she might molt again soon. The Forsaken woman in Ratchet said she'd end up a bit bigger than she is right now.
How are things in Orgrimmar? Have you made any new dresses (not the frilly elf kind)? We can't get pineapple drinks out here so you'd better drink one for me next time you go to Ratchet.
Se'ala (and Shen'ju)
P.S. You don't have to write back if you don't want to.
