If people aren't happy you're going to be captain, they should have just worked harder. The one who is on the highest spot is the best player, and they aren't. If they are jealous they can try and take your place... if they can.

If you go far away in hopes to escape them, you're no better. Hold your ground and GLARE at them and tell them if they can beat you in a match you'll gladly give them the spot.
Try that, and see how good it works.
