Stats:
I posted 3:41:52 of podfic this year, spread across 8 stories.
The fandom I recorded most for was Bandom? Everything I published this year was bandom. 6 podfics with MCR in, followed by 3 with FOB in (b/c slideverse) 2 with PATD in and 1 with Adam in. I intend to up that Adam number. I want to more accurately represent the actual ratio of fannish interests w/my podfics!
What was the best podfic you made this year?
Well, hopefully I'm still getting better, with everything I make, meaning part 3 of slidesverse should be my best. But OMG I have SUCH a place in my heart for Radioactive Ice Cubes and Dancing Plasma Particles because I LOVE how Mikey's voice came out in that one. It was such a happy surprise.
Most popular?
Well commentwise, DEFINITELY Solarcat's not-actually-vampires verse. I'm so glad that was my followup to littlemousling's gift podfic. The response was more than I could ever have hoped far and the good feelings I got from those comments has just... carried me through. I switched to mediafire from megaupload halfway through the year, and megaupload's nujbers have GOT to be wild and crazy and totally off. So I won't even mention them. (Seriously, innaccurate and crazy. It had a dl registered on a file before I even posted it. It was convenient at first, but NO. No trust for you megaupload! Also your new redesign means waiting for dls sucks.)
Also this year I want to learn how/acquire the software to make podbooks. So I can watch the DL counts on them too. Om nom download counts are amaaaaaazing. I will nearly always dl the podbook if it is available so I figure other people do too and i want to SEE that these other people have DL'd it. O_______O
Most underappreciated?
Shorter things have that high effort/short reward thing for downloaders so I get that they'll be less response to those. Which is just sad for ones that don't have a series (like slidesverse or vampires verse) to make the download more attractive and rewarding. I still wish But Sweeter had gotten more love though. Its download counts are respectable enough though.
Personal favorite, for whatever reason?
Personal favorite as opposed to best? Lol, hard distinction to make. Ok. Either Vampires Will Never Hurt You (But I Make No Promises About Zombies) or Ridiculous Adam/Ryan Notfic, or, The Language of Scarves because seriously, FIRST PUBLISHED PODFIC. How can that not have the most giant of fond spots in my heart. And Vampires (Zombies) is just so SWEET and listen-able <3
Most difficult to make?
You Only Hear the Music was hard because it was my first long hour+ podfic and it felt like it would NEVER GET DONE. And I didn't want to say anything about it in case I faaaaailed and never posted it because then people would KNOW. And I wasn't really good at doing multiple takes yet and it was my first project with visual editing (I use claps) and whewwwwww. Many firsts. Much nervousness.
Committing to Heart and Hospital was my first time recording porn that wasn't also notfic! It was SUPER INTIMIDATING. But really I think it was mostly in my own head and I'd built it up. When i actually recorded it, it wasn't that much more difficult to do. Although I think I had more erros of saying things in the wrong tone/voice. Also moany/breathy noises are not my (to steal littlemousling's FAVORITE WORD) wheelhouse. So I just sort of brazened my way though them and didn't give them much emphasis because I'd rather read in a normal-er dialogue voice than one that's too over-expressive and wrong. And then I went and published I Wanna Wrap My Coat Around You before H&H anyway, lol.

Oh, well every second of this, really. I keep trying new and intimidating things. The longfic I'm recording right now and the podfic in the works that is basically porn porn porn definitely qualify. I've totally gotten over being all scared and anticipatory about posting to amplification now though. Like, that was a HUGELY SCARY THING with my first podfic.

They've all been pretty fun, ngl. I'm so glad podfic is so fun to make.
Was there one that didn’t turn out the way you wanted?
Lol, the ones I didn't post are the ones that didn't turn out the way I wanted. Hobviously. Especially the one where I tried to do Gerard!voice and failed SO UTTERLY oh my god. And the one with the pictures. I have no idea how to pod something where the pictures are integral to the story experience.
Biggest learning experience?
...everything? Learning I can do this at all???
I'm really glad pod_aware happened when it did. And I'm so glad for podfic_tips. And people just casually mentioning things.
