Kill the chickes for me, hon?

Today in Japanese we had hilarious mock dates-with-intent-to-marry so we could use our new grammatical construction of doing things for  other people. I accidentally asked someone if they would kill  yakitori (grilled chickens) for me. I meant gokiburi (roaches).  They sound noting alike! How does one's brain confuse such things? I think perhaps I should have asked sensei for a vocab refresher. I also indicated that I was willing to iron if I could watch tv while ironing. Except, that's actually what I meant to say.

Also I'm planning a visit to the local Barnes and Noble,  because totally unanticipated by me, there's a new Dresden Files book out, Small Favors.

I bought 75 issues of cricket magazine from a Seattle good will off ebay last night. I anticipate their arrival with glee. Treasured childhood reading, cricket.

books, japanese!, a story to tell on jeopardy!, internet, buying stuff
