A Lesson in Recycle Bins...

I lost 30+ GBs of my music today!

A very large collection that was organized with OCD style precision and meticulous attention to details. After the initial shock and understandable aggravation I went out with Brandon to Amoeba and purchased two CDs to help restart my collection from scratch. M.I.A.s CD and the new Peaches!

The new iTunes decided to scour my hard drives for music when I told it not to, then when I cleared iTunes it sent them all to recycle bin, I know I clicked "Keep Files." - Now if any of you are not too familiar with Windows Recycle Bin. It only stores files up to a certain size and anything bigger or overflowing gets automatically deleted, there is no restorations to be made.

Recycle Bin: Right Click > Properties - reveals how much is actually to be stored. Seeing as how my Library was considerably larger than what the Recycle Bin may hold, most of it was deleted. I think a few of my digi-cam videos got sucked into iTunes got the axe as well.

I have iTunes v. 7.0.0.70 now (Check yours - Help > About iTunes) - I could of sworn the one I downloaded the other day to install this morning was like 7.0.0.30... or 20... if so perhaps there was a problem and they fixed it under the radar - I've never had a problem re-importing my Library before and I've been around since iTunes 2.5. Even if it was my fault which I doubt, the transitions to new versions suck and is a problem that needs to be addressed if they're going to update the fucking program every few months.

My lesson for the day? Back up Music when installing a new version of iTunes.

Yeah it's a no brainer... I still love iTunes... when every things in it and it works and the new version is smooth so this time I'm going to state:

FUCK WINDOWS AND IT'S "RECYCLE BIN"
... A real OS isn't afraid to have a fucking Trash Can!
