"Do you wanna DIE?!"

Jan 21, 2009 20:14

For some reason my fingers are cold, so I don't know how well this is going to go. I might get really frustrated a paragraph in from having to hit the backspace button and just say "SCREW IT" and give up (funny enough, I only made one typing mistake in that whole sentence. Huh.)

Let's see, let's see...what have I been up to? My buddy Matt came up to visit from Virginia last week. I like to think that he came up to visit me, but it was really to see his lovely girlfriend, Rachel, and I was just this awesome bonus attached to the whole thing. A really awesome bonus. Like a free BUCK-TICK poster. Like the one I got from cdjapan with my new B-T singles, "Heaven" and "Galaxy." Man that was such an awesome surprise...what was I talking about?

Yes, Matt. Well, Matt and Rachel are lovely lovely people. I really just kind of just of met him like once six or so months ago and her last week, but they're the type of people that you know you're going to be friends with for a very long time. So Matt is super nice and gave me his password to his Sirius internet radio connection and they are playing a real blast from the past right now on the Lithium channel: "She Don't Use Jelly" by The Flaming Lips. I never knew what the name of this song was or who sang it...I just remembered it was like the vaseline on toast song. And the guy who wipes his nose with magazines and the girl who apparently dyes her hair with tangerines (that doesn't even make SENSE!) "Ants Marching" by Dave Matthews was on last, and that makes me sad cause Zach likes Dave Matthews and the song made me miss him. Waaaah....He just switched his two weeks of R&R with a friend of his so now he's coming home in July instead of next month. Which is a good thing...I guess. Cause he really was coming home too soon but now it's just a really long way away...but at least this way once he's here he'll only have to go back for three months so that won't be nearly as bad as having to wait nine months to see him again.

Ok, now I have to try and remember all of the things I wanted to talk about for the past month but was too lazy to post. The one thing I really remember was how much I wanted to stress how freaking awesome the movie "Labyrinth" is. Like, I've always loved it, but I think now it really is my second favorite movie of all time (cause nothing could EVER take the place of "The Last Unicorn.") {Jeezy Creezy my fingers are still freezing....urgh...I'm using these crazy little squiggly brackets cause no one ever seems to use them. They get used so infrequently that I can't even remember what they are called. I can remember what the tilde is(~) but not the little squiggly brackets} This Lithium Channel is slightly depressing me..."When Spam was just meat in a can..." and "Before Y2k..." God I am SO FREAKING OLD! WAAAAAH! I'm kind of sad because this year is my AWESOME 27th birthday (anyone who knows me well knows how awesome I think 27 is....but then again, those people don't read my LJ. Actually, Nanners might know. She should with all of the pretty boy brainwashing I did to her when she was growing up...)

But, yes, Labyrinth. Oh my GOD that movie rocks... I just seemed to pick up on so many little things this time that I never did before...well, I mean, it was stuff that I knew about, but it just seemed so much more cool and super this time. Like the whole Jareth/Sarah relationship. I know it's a little peda-licious with her being 14 and him like...oh...40 and all...but I like to think that even though David Bowie was 39 when he did the movie, Jareth was sort of like this immortal teenager on the inside. Sure, that's my explanation. And we're going to pretend that Sarah was more like...oh 16. So it's not so creepy. But I just really noticed more stuff in the song lyrics this time that made me want to scream even more at the TV during the last scene between Jareth and Sarah, "YOU STUPID MOONCOW! WHY DON'T YOU STAY THERE WITH HIM! WHO CARES IF YOUR BROTHER TURNS INTO A GOBLIN! IT WOULD BE AN IMPROVEMENT!!

Argh. But one thing I did this time that I can't believe I didn't do before was watch the behind the scenes making of the movie. Oh my god! It was soooo cool and interesting! Not to mention the super neat-o vintage David Bowie interviews. It was really awesome to see all of the interviews with Jim Henson too and see all of the muppets being made and acted. [Marylin Manson is 90's grunge, Lithium? Really!?] While I'm on this David Bowie tangent, I finally saw "The Man Who Fell to Earth" two days ago. It was...uh...interesting. Lots of seemingly plotless sex and plotless...plot. Bowie was very cool and alien looking, though, probably cause of his drug use at the time. And I was loving the red-orange hair he was rocking. The character of Mary-Lou was really ugly, stupid, and annoying. Ugh, I wished that she had just NOT BEEN IN THE MOVIE. But overall, it was kind of disappointing.  I guess it was just too "artsy" for me. Apparently they're remaking the film, which would be interesting to see. As in, would anything be kept the same? Cause that kind of movie might have worked well in the 70's, but not now. People's attention spans are waaay too short. And seriously the only thing that kept me paying attention throughout the whole movie was lovely David Bowie. He's so creepy hot.

So...I guess that's it. My actual life is very boring at the moment. Working, sleeping, trying to keep things clean. I've gotten back into watching doramas, which is great at killing time. I watched "Brother Beat" (which had the guy who played Takumi in the NANA movies...whatever his name is...) and I finally got around to watching "Hotman 2" which was ok, but not as good as the first one. Something about changing the actress who played Shima to that girl from the "Densha Otoko" dorama just threw off the feeling of the whole show. Plus, as much as I love Sorimachi Takashi, he did sort of over-act the role. But I still liked it. I still have like 15 doramas to check out and I just downloaded "Kurosagi" which has Yamapi in it (though it will be weird seeing him in another role besides Akira in "Nobuta wo Produce.")

Well, this post was quite long and rambling. If anyone even read the whole thing I will be utterly amazed. I guess I'm just happy to get something done, even if it's just a Live Journal. I really wish that winter was over. We got dumped with two friggin feet of snow on Saturday. Shoveling the driveway after a full 8 hour work day was not fun. Zach needs to come home. Urgh urgh urgh. Stupid Army. Stupid stupid upstate New York. Urgh.

By the way, Snape is hot.
