PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY...

LEAGUE OF FILIPINO STUDENTS-SFSU INVITES YOU TO THE...
5TH ANNUAL DIWANG PINAY: SOUL OF THE PINAY
CELEBRATING THE STRUGGLES AND TRIUMPHS OF THE FILIPINO WOMEN

THEME: MAKIBAKA! (STRUGGLE/FIGHT TOGETHER)

From the streets of San Francisco to the provinces in the Philippines, Filipino women are actively taking action to better the conditions in their local communities. The many contributions of Filipino women are often not included in our daily conversations and it is exactly this reason that Diwang Pinay was started.

The collective fight for women's rights, welfare, and social justice is stronger than ever, which is why more than 80 of our sisters have been murdered under the current administration of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (2001- ). The raging thunder of the Filipino women's movement is felt throughout the world and Filipino women are in the forefront in fighting to end economic injustice and achieve genuine freedom for all.

Please join us as we celebrate the triumphs of all Filipino women and learn about the current struggles and issues that effect us and our community.

Come and support local Pinay artists and organizations in the Bay Area as they share with us their thoughts through various art forms like comedy, songs, guerilla theater, poetry, b-girlin', and many more!

Performers include: Toni Lynn, Maya Santos, Aureen Almario, Extra Credit Crew, and many more.
